Noted for its readability, comprehensiveness and relevancy, the new fifth edition of this bestselling book provides readers with an accessible examination of the heat transfer field. They’ll gain a better understanding of the terminology and physical principles for any process or system involving heat transfer. And they’ll find out how to develop representative models of real processes and systems, and draw conclusions concerning process/systems design or performance from the attendant analysis.

by Rahul Kamble (Author) This book sheds light on forest fire science its behaviour and dynamics. Fuel chemistry influence on combustion and smoke production is also discussed. Water relation in fuels affecting the forest fires is also mentioned. Influence of fuel moisture affecting surface budget is also highlighted. Furthermore, international literature review is also attempted on the impacts of forest fires on the properties of the soil is also mentioned.Hardcover – August 8, 2019
by Ben Hubbard (Author) Look inside natural disasters and discover how they work!Natural disasters devastate communities. They reshape the landscape and can alter people's ways of life in an area for years after the event. Learn all about wildfires and freak weather. Find out how they form, where they are mostly to happen and how scientists study them through diagrams and case studies.Explore how natural disasters work by cracking them open and looking at them from the inside. How do they happen How are they destructive What happens on the inside of each phenomena And where in the world are the danger zones This series explore each of these questions in detail. This series uses detailed artwork, cutaways and images from real-life to give a rounded view of each event. Perfect for readers aged 9 and up.Paperback – November 19, 2017
by Robert E. Keane (Author) Excerpt from Fire-Bgc: A Mechanistic Ecological Process Model for Simulating Fire Succession on Coniferous Forest Landscapes of the Northern Rocky Mountains The second portion of this paper details the application of fire-b'gc to a whitebark pine (pinus albicaulis) forest in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex (bmw C) of Montana. This simulation is referred to in this paper as the bmw C project. The objective was to investigate the consequences of management policies on the whitebark pine ecosystem dynamics in a spatial domain. Several management scenarios were simulated on a ha upper subalpine landscape in the southwestern part of the Swan Range of the bmwc to determine the response of whitebark pine to vari ous management actions. Many fire-bgc parameters presented in this paper were quantified specifically for this study area using field data collected by Keane and Morgan (1994) and Keane and others Ex amples of these parameters are provided throughout model documentation. by Paul Shewmon (Editor) This book offers detailed descriptions of the methods available to predict the occurrence of diffusion in alloys subjected to various processes. Major topic areas covered include diffusion equations, atomic theory of diffusion, diffusion in dilute alloys, diffusion in a concentration gradient, diffusion in non-metals, high diffusivity paths, and thermo- and electro-transport.8th Edition, Kindle Edition
by Theodore L. Bergman (Author), Adrienne S. Lavine (Author), Frank P. Incropera (Author), & 1 more Format: Kindle Edition Fundamentals of Heat and Mass Transfer 8th Edition has been the gold standard of heat transfer pedagogy for many decades, with a commitment to continuous improvement by four authors’ with more than 150 years of combined experience in heat transfer education, research and practice. Applying the rigorous and systematic problem-solving methodology that this text pioneered an abundance of examples and problems reveal the richness and beauty of the discipline. This edition makes heat and mass transfer more approachable by giving additional emphasis to fundamental concepts, while highlighting the relevance of two of today’s most critical issues: energy and the environment.Hardcover – January 1, 1965
